Pilot Butte Ascent Series — SUMMER
Thursdays · August 6 · 13 · 20
5:45–6:45 AM · Pilot Butte · Bend, Oregon
Train with purpose. Climb with intention.
The Pilot Butte Ascent Series returns this August with its’ seasonal focus.
This three-week small-group coaching experience is designed for runners who want to become stronger climbers, execute quality workouts with confidence, and better understand the purpose behind their training.
Using Pilot Butte as our training ground, we'll build hill strength, running economy, sustainable speed, and the ability to repeat hard efforts without losing form. Each workout is progressive, building on the previous week while remaining individualized through time-based intervals and Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE).
Because every runner arrives with a different fitness level, no two athletes will complete the exact same speed—but everyone will leave with the right training stimulus.
This isn't simply about climbing a hill.
It's about learning how to execute quality sessions, understanding why each workout matters, and becoming a stronger, more confident runner long after the series ends.
What You'll Experience
Three progressive coached hill workouts, each building on the last
Dynamic warm-ups and running drills to improve movement and efficiency
Small-group coaching with individualized feedback and workout modifications
Purposeful quality sessions focused on hill strength, threshold development, and running economy
Learn to train by effort (RPE) and execute workouts with confidence
Weekly coaching insights and athlete resources
Weekly athlete gifts and surprises
Priority access to future Ember Ascent programming
Who It's For
Road and trail runners looking to improve their climbing strength and overall run fitness
Athletes training for a fall race or mountain adventure
Runners who enjoy structured workouts and are ready to work hard in a supportive environment
Athletes looking to better understand the science behind quality training
This series is designed for runners with an established running base. Workouts are challenging but scalable, allowing athletes of different abilities to train together while receiving individualized coaching.
Investment
$89 for the full three-week series.
Registration is intentionally limited to 10 runners to provide individualized coaching and feedback throughout each session.
Detailed meeting information and a participant waiver will be provided after registration.
